One of the biggest reasons I started my own business was for the freedom to work from anywhere, especially when it means spending time with the people I love.
Two to three times a year, I visit family abroad. It’s become increasingly important to me to support clients without missing a beat and to be able to schedule time away without pre-approval to use PTO like I did in corporate.
My work and life fuel each other. Project commitments fit around what matters most, and that’s made both my interactions with clients and my life more meaningful.
A few weeks ago I decided at the last minute to visit my Mom for Mother’s Day. The ability to just sit in the same room (or on the same porch swing) was my favorite part! Still turning in client projects on time was the icing on the cake.
Working remotely has also made me more intentional with my time. Even small tools (like Gmail templates) help create more ease in my day when I’m writing routine communication.
I’m grateful to work in a way that lets me contribute meaningfully while being present for moments that matter most.
